IPL Skin Rejuvenation (Photo Rejuvenation)

Tighter, firmer skin is younger-looking skin and no one wants to look older than they are…

There are many reasons why skin begins to sag and become lined: pregnancy, weight loss, sun exposure and time are just some of the causes.

The IPL Skin Tightening process uses intense pulsed light to heat the under-layers of the skin, stimulating the production of collagen – which is the substance that keeps skin firm and supple. More collagen means firmer, smoother skin with a visible reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, particularly on the face, neck and décolletage. Hands, which can age much faster than other parts of the body because of their constant exposure to water and harsh chemicals, can also be rejuvenated to look smoother with a more even skin tone.

After a course of IPL rejuvenation skin appears firmer and fuller. Larger areas, such as the tummy, buttocks and thighs lose that saggy texture that belongs on much older people.

 What is Photo Rejuvenation?

Photo Rejuvenation uses Intense Pulsed Light – IPL – to refresh and revive the skin. IPL is different from laser and works on the skin by penetrating deeply below the outer layers. It is much gentler and may give more effective, lasting results than dermabrasive techniques, which rely on removing the outer layers of the skin using harsh abrasives without affecting collagen production.

Does it hurt?

Photo Rejuvenation uses light so there is no need for you to feel anything other than gentle warmth.

How will my skin look immediately following a Photo Rejuvenation treatment?

You may feel as though you have a mild case of sunburn after your treatment and your skin may be slightly pink for 2 or 3 hours. This will disappear, as will the mild swelling which you may experience after your treatment.

Are there any possible side effects?

Are there any possible side effects?

Photo Rejuvenation is generally a very safe procedure so you can be back to your normal life immediately after your treatment.

There are some very mild side effects that can occur but these are generally associated with darker skin types and too much sun exposure too soon after a treatment.

How soon will I see a result?

10 days after your first treatment you should notice a real difference in the look and feel of your skin. A series of treatments – between 6 and 10 treatments at intervals of 7 or 10 days – is recommended for optimum results because each treatment builds on the previous to give a cumulative effect. By the 3rd or 4th treatment, you will be pleasantly surprised by the results.

Will the results last?

After the initial series of Photo Rejuvenation treatments, the improvements will be lasting. To maintain the results, we recommend some simple steps both during and after your treatment course:

Do I have to stay out of the sun?

Photo Rejuvenation treatments heighten the skin’s sensitivity to sunlight so it’s important to project your skin from direct sun. We recommend that you use the E+ Photo Protector cream, which will hydrate your skin while it’s being protected. Solariums and sunbathing should be avoided at all times.

After the initial series of Photo Rejuvenation treatments, the improvements will be lasting. To maintain the results, we recommend some simple steps both during and after your treatment course:

  • Use complimentary skin care products, in particular, those with high levels of hyaluronic acid and other potent anti-oxidants. The E+ post-laser and IPL products available from your nearest Hairfree Clinic are an excellent choice.
  • Keep direct exposure to sunlight to an absolute minimum and wear a Photo Protector at all times.
